Our Services
Senior tax judgement where complexity matters.
At Conspectus, we do not offer a catalogue of commoditised tax services.
Our work focuses on situations where experience, perspective, and discretion materially affect outcomes.
Our services are organised around four core pillars.
1. Tax Strategy, Governance & Risk
Helping organisations make deliberate, well-governed tax decisions aligned with their commercial reality.
We work with in-house teams, executives and boards to clarify tax risk appetite, establish robust governance frameworks, and ensure tax strategy is integrated with broader business objectives.
Typical engagements include:
Designing and reviewing tax strategies aligned with ownership structure, industry and risk tolerance
Establishing tax risk management frameworks and governance policies
Supporting senior management and boards with tax oversight and decision-making
Providing senior judgement on complex or sensitive tax positions
Outcome:
Confidence that tax is being managed deliberately — not reactively — with appropriate oversight and proportionate risk.
2. Transactions, Change & Complexity
Senior tax perspective for moments that matter.
We support organisations through major transactions and periods of structural or commercial change, where tax considerations are consequential and time-critical.
We have extensive experience operating from the client side of transactions and understand how tax advice must function in real-world deal environments.
Typical engagements include:
M&A, divestments and restructurings
Transaction planning, structuring and risk assessment
Acting as a strategic tax adviser with you alongside large firms undertaking due diligence
Scoping, managing and sense-checking external advisers during transactions
Outcome:
Clear sight of tax implications before decisions are locked in — and fewer surprises after the fact.
3. In-house Capability & Resourcing
Supporting tax functions that are evolving, stretched, or at an inflection point.
We help organisations assess, design and strengthen their in-house tax capability — whether that involves improving existing processes, supplementing senior capacity, or establishing a function for the first time.
Typical engagements include:
End-to-end tax function design (people, process, systems)
Reviewing tax compliance coverage and process robustness
Acting as a senior on-the-ground resource during busy periods or major projects
Providing a virtual or fractional Head of Tax for organisations not yet ready for a full-time role
Outcome:
A tax function that fits the organisation’s scale and complexity — without unnecessary overhead or fragility.
4. Bespoke Advice, Review & Controversy Support
Targeted advice and second-opinion support where judgement matters most.
We provide practical, commercially grounded advice on specific tax issues and act as a sounding board or sense-check for advice received from other providers.
Where disputes arise, we help manage the process with clarity and proportion.
Typical engagements include:
Bespoke advice on complex or unusual tax issues
Second reviews of advice provided by other advisers
Inland Revenue audits and dispute management
Developing response strategies and managing engagement with tax authorities
Outcome:
Clear, actionable advice — and calm, experienced support when issues escalate.
What We Don't Do
We deliberately avoid high-volume, commoditised tax work.
This allows us to focus on strategic matters that affect long-term value and decision-making.
Where specialist or large-scale execution work is required (for example, transfer pricing or R&D incentives), we will recommend appropriate providers and help scope, manage and review their work.
How Clients Use Us
Clients engage Conspectus in different ways:
As an independent senior adviser
Alongside existing advisers during transactions or audits
Embedded temporarily within in-house teams
As a virtual or fractional Head of Tax
What remains constant is the level of experience involved and the responsibility we take for outcomes.
